Satilla Marsh Elementary is deeply committed to the optimum intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and cultural development of each child. Principal’s Message

Leah Ellingsen is proud to serve as Principal of Satilla Marsh Elementary School. With 20 years of experience in education, she brings a deep commitment to student success, instructional excellence, and building strong school communities.

Mrs. Ellingsen earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Georgia State University, a Master’s degree in Leadership from the University of Georgia, and a Specialist degree in Teaching and Learning from Valdosta State University. Throughout her career, she has worked with students across a variety of grade levels in both elementary and middle schools, including gifted education.

Her professional experience includes serving as an instructional lead teacher, Assistant Principal at Glynn Middle School, and Assistant Principal at Greer Elementary School. These diverse leadership and instructional roles have strengthened her passion for supporting students, teachers, and families in achieving their highest potential.

Satilla Marsh Elementary holds a special place in Mrs. Ellingsen’s heart, as she spent the first ten years of her career teaching there. She is thrilled to return to the school community that helped shape her journey as an educator and leader. Mrs. Ellingsen looks forward to partnering with students, staff, and families to continue the tradition of excellence at Satilla Marsh Elementary and ensure every child feels supported, challenged, and inspired to succeed.

  • Safety is our top priority. We have secure campus entry points, regular emergency drills, and on-site staff trained in emergency response. Our visitor management system ensures that all guests are signed in and monitored.

  • Our elementary school day typically begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m., with after-school programs available for families needing extended care.

  • Registration is straightforward and can be done online or in person at the school office. Required documents include proof of residence, birth certificate, and immunization records.

  • We welcome family involvement! Parents can volunteer in classrooms, join the PTA, participate in family nights, or attend school events. Your involvement strengthens our school community and supports your child's learning experience.

  • Technology is integrated to enhance learning, with resources such as interactive whiteboards, tablets, and educational software that support students' digital literacy and engagement.
